Vegan human book library to return for Chippenham Vegan Fair

After the success of the 1st ever Vegan Human Book Library at Clevedon Vegan Fair back in June we are delighted to announce that the Library will opening it’s doors once again! This time at The Neeld Community and Arts Centre as part of Chippenham Vegan Fair on Sunday 27th October.

Have you ever wanted to ask someone about how they were influenced to become a vegan? Perhaps you want to know more about bringing up children in a vegan household or how best to get involved in vegan activism? If so, why not pick up a vegan human book and get talking!

What is a human book library?

Human book libraries have existed for around 20 years now and can be found all over the world. The aim of a human book library is to create a safe space where topics can be discussed on a 1-on-1 or a small group basis between a human book with a particular experience or expertise and their reader.

The vegan human book library’s aim is to inspire people to go vegan, adopt a plant-based diet or even just make small changes in their lives, by breaking down some of the barriers stopping them. We provide a safe, friendly, non-confrontational way for people to explore veganism and the issues around living as a vegan.

How does it work?

The library will be open from 12 noon – 3pm in the ground floor conservatory room in The Neeld Community & Arts Centre.

When you arrive you will be able to browse our bookcase to see what human books are available to ‘check out’. Once you have chosen which book you would like to speak to, you will then be taken to meet them, ‘check them out’ of the library and sit down together for up to 20 mins.

You can either have a conversation with your chosen human book or you can just sit back and listen to them speak about their experiences and ask them questions afterwards. You can visit the human book alone or bring a few friends or family members!
